Adaptation to climate change
Societies’ vulnerability to impacts of climate change can be decreased with adaptation measures. Regardless of the success of mitigation measures, some climate change is unavoidable and so some adaptation to these changes will be needed. It is possible both to decrease the adverse impacts and to take advantage of the beneficial impacts of climate change, through the use of well-planned adaptive measures. Municipalities play a key role in such adaptation.
